Nestled into the corner of Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake is an ideal location for a weekend (or week long!) getaway. This cabin is conveniently situated in downtown Grand Lake, just 300 feet from private lakefront and a two minute walk from downtown. We are located in the community of historic Lemmon Lodge, which offers exclusive access to a private beach and dock, five wooded acres and private lake frontage, as well as access to private fishing on the North Inlet. The cabin is one block from the historic downtown “Boardwalk,” providing walkable and convenient access to all shopping and dining in Grand Lake. We do not have a direct lake view, but walk 300 feet in either direction, and you have your choice of enjoying private beachfront at the Lemmon Lodge beach or the Grand Lake public beach. We are located next door to the Grand Lake Yacht Club and a short walk from the lakeside "snack shack" - our favorite places to enjoy our morning coffee and lunch or ice cream runs during the summer months. This is a two bedroom, one bathroom cabin. It has a full kitchen, which allows for cooking any meals, as well as an outdoor picnic area. The main living area has a fireplace, and ample room to enjoy cozy nights playing board games and cards (provided!) at the cabin. There are two decks with seating and a peekaboo lake view from the master deck (especially during the winter months), perfect for enjoying your morning coffee. The master bedroom has a king bed. The second bedroom has one queen bed and one twin bed. The unit comfortably sleeps up to five guests. The main floor of the unit is the original cabin, built in the 1940's. The top floor was later added, giving this cabin historic charm, perfectly paired with modern conveniences. If you have children, please note that a pack n' play, baby blankets, child locks on bathroom and kitchen cabinets and a wagon for trips to the beach and town are included during summer months. We also have a basket on the main floor that includes a selection of children's toys, puzzles and books. The stairs are steep, and a baby gate is NOT installed. Our small children navigate them easily, but please consider this, if you are travelling with small children or ANYONE with a disability or trouble with stairs. No dogs or pets of any kind are allowed. Our youngest son is allergic to cats, dogs and bunnies, so this is of particular concern to us. The HOA will assess a fine of $100-$350 per offense, per day. The offending guest will be responsible in full for the fee payment. There are two dedicated parking spaces in front of the unit. Trailers, RV's and tenting are not allowed. Please note that the kayaks and wagon are placed in storage from late September through late May. Boat slips at our private dock are available for rent for $20/day, based on availability. If you have a boat, the public boat launch is less than a mile from our house. You may leave your trailer and car for up to three days at the public boat launch. We fell in love with this property because it is within a two minute walk to all things needed for an ideal getaway: private beach, private dock, some of the best fishing in Colorado, spectacular hiking and snowshoeing trails, public beach and marina (where paddle boat and boat rentals are available), cafes/coffee shops, restaurants, a large public playground and more...these are all just steps from our front door! And when sitting on the front porch or in the back at the picnic table, it is nothing short of serene. And Grand Lake isn't just for summer getaways! The town is known as the snowmobiling capital of the world. Snowmobiles are available for rent just a few blocks from the cabin, and can be driven throughout town (snow conditions permitting), as well as on hundreds of miles of trails in Rocky Mountain National Park. Grand Lake has world class ice fishing, and the nordic center is located appx. one mile from the cabin, boasting miles of trails, along with a sledding hill. Ski Granby Ranch is a 25 minute drive, and Winter Park is 45 minutes away. Winter offers cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling very nearby and alpine skiing is just 20 minutes away in Granby. The town allows snowmobiles on the public streets, which connect to trails in the Park. Visit Hot Sulphur Springs to soak in the naturally hot spring water, one of the pools was used by the native peoples prior to arrival of pioneers. Grand Lake is the largest natural lake in Colorado and host to two marinas. Shadow Mountain Lake connects via the channel and hosts a 3rd marina. Travel between the two lakes is permitted. Numerous creeks and rivers are accessible from public land for fly fishing. Rent a power boat from one of the marinas or rent a paddle board or kayak if you prefer a human powered ride. ATV use is permitted within town limits, Jeep trails to old mine sites are just minutes away.

Our house is located on the thin slice of land between Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Lake on a quiet unpaved road that was once the Main Street of the village of Grand Lake. There are many historic old cabins along the road including the Spider House next door where the owner grew up spending her summers. Our house was an outbuilding that we have converted into an open, comfortable and special retreat. An artist and a scientist, we have designed and decorated it with a mix of the old and the new. The house has many old items from the the area, collected from friends and family but also provides amenities like Wi-Fi, internet Radio and a Smart TV. There is no cable TV, so sports and news must be gathered from the radio or by visiting a restaurant in town where you can hang out with the locals and cheer on your team. The beds are comfortable and the house is warm and light and comfortable. We are surrounded by Rocky Mountain National Park and you can walk (or ski in winter) out the door to miles of trails. A short drive will get you to many other trail heads in the park for many more miles of mountains, valleys, streams and lakes..and lots of wildlife. Moose, fox and deer wander through the yard and elk and bighorn sheep can be seen in the park. All sorts of songbirds, eagles, osprey and pelicans can be viewed. Our location between the 2 lakes offers very close (walking distance) access to a public boat landing on Shadow Mountain Lake and public dock on Grand Lake. The Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater offers wonderful live entertainment and the town has many restaurants and plenty of shopping. There is a marina in town where you can rent kayaks, paddle boats or a pontoon boat. The Kaufmann Historic Museum is a great place to learn more about the old town including the neighboring houses. In winter there is snow shoeing and cross country skiing out the door or in Rocky Mountain National Park. The Grand Lake Touring Center offers many miles of groomed trails, expert lessons and a free tubing hill. Granby Ranch, a small ski area, is 16 miles away. Mary Jane/Winter Park is a major resort and is 37 miles away (about 45 minutes). Berthoud Pass is a popular backcountry ski destination. We spend several months at the house every year and it is very well cared for. We hope the house will be enjoyed as a place to relax and to appreciate the very special beauty of Grand Lake. We are hikers and skiers and the area provides and abundance of that but it is also a wonderful place to do nothing and let yourself luxuriate in the free time in the mountains. Welcome to our lovely, newly renovated, historic cabin right in the heart of the Town of Grand Lake. Warm, inviting and charming, you will enjoy all that Grand Lake has to offer. It has all the comforts of home, but is steps from the grandeur that is Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. Dogs will love it here too with a nice fenced in yard. Our cabin is one block off the main street boardwalk, filled with great shops, restaurants, bars and many other treats. This cabin is also located directly across the street from the main playground, basketball court, Town Hall, Town Park and the Juniper Library. Walk to everything! In winter, the basketball court is converted to an ice rink — so fun, bring your skates! We have recently added a much bigger front porch for relaxing or watching the kids play in the park. This cabin is for people who like to be a part of it all: hang out at the local coffee shops, bakeries, see the parades, town events, art fair, theater, music festivals, participate in bingo, just meet new people, etc. Of course you will have to take in all the lakes have to offer, such as sit on the beach and play in the sand, rent a boat (or bring your boat!) or go fishing. We offer three kayaks and one paddle board in the summer to make the fun even greater (must sign waiver). And take in the sheer beauty of the area with so many hiking trails, lakes and rivers to explore. Enjoy Bingo Fridays and Saturdays every week throughout the summer, snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter, book talks for the kids at the library, a show at the Repertory Theater, bowling, etc. There is also a private patio to enjoy in the summer. This area is host to varied wildlife, which you have a very good chance of seeing even in our backyard, such as moose, bear, elk, fox, hummingbirds and butterflies. The wonderful ski resort of Winter Park/Mary Jane is only a 45 minute drive away. The cabin has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The first floor has been newly renovated with rustic hardwood floors and a new gas fireplace/stove. The first floor has 1 bedroom with a queen size bed and updated bathroom, living room with fireplace, dining room, updated kitchen and a mudroom with full laundry facilities. The second floor is sort of a divided but shared area (no doors) with a queen size bed on one side, and three single beds on the other side (perfect for the kids), as well as a small bathroom with an antique claw foot tub, so nice for soaking. We also have a pack 'n play/crib for the baby. Dogs are allowed, please no cats. We would appreciate you cleaning up after your dog as well. Thanks! Beautiful master bedroom on 2nd floor has a spectacular view, fireplace, sitting area, full desk + extra monitor for remote working and its own large master bathroom with a jet tub and separate shower. Two more bedrooms upstairs, one with a king and another with a queen bed, these can share the 2nd bathroom upstairs. The main level has a generous kitchen with bar stools and dining room, and a very comfortable living room with a smart TV and Xfinity cable, Netflix and more. The living room looks out on an amazing deck with stellar views of the Grand and Shadow Mountain Lakes. The deck is the ultimate outdoor relaxation area outfitted with a long propane firepit, and luxurious seating for the whole group. There's also a BBQ for grilling. The lower level has another family room to hang out in with a new smart TV, a second kitchen table for games and puzzles and a futon for sitting or sleeping. There is also a huge bunk room on the lower level with two queen over queen bunk beds (4 queen beds!) and another full bathroom. Full washer/dryer are on the lower level and available to use during your stay. The lower deck has more space to sit and enjoy the amazing lake views, a life-size Jenga game and the new 8 person hot tub. It is the ultimate family weekend getaway! Since our home is located in a residential neighborhood, if you are looking for a place for a large social gathering or party that might get noisy, you should find another home. We have strict quiet hours after 10pm to keep our awesome neighbors in our good graces. We want all our guests to have a great vacation, so we want to be upfront about our expectations and house rules. Important Note: 4WD/AWD or FWD w/chains are recommended during winter months due to the steep hill to get to house that can become icy! Extra parking available on Park Ave or at bottom of the hill during summer months. The East Troublesome Fire did impact neighborhoods on the west side of the Grand Lake community and parts of western Rocky Mtn National Park. Neither the town nor our home was impacted thankfully. The majestic views, quaint town experiences and all outdoor activities are still available. The nearby hiking trails are open but you will need a timed entry reservation to enter Rocky Mountain National Park so make sure you check their website early! So many of the experiences that make our home and this area special are still available!
